UP Police Constable Selection Process

The selection process for the Uttar Pradesh Police Constable Recruitment 2023 involves the following stages:

Written Examination: Written exam is the first stage of the selection process. The written examination is an objective type test that covers various subjects. Candidates who score above the cut-off marks in this examination will be shortlisted for the next stage of the selection process.

Document Verification & Physical Standard Test (PST): In this stage, the shortlisted candidates will have to undergo document verification and Physical Standard Test. The Physical Standard Test involves the measurement of height, chest, and weight. Candidates must meet the physical standards as specified by the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment Board.

The minimum physical standards for candidates are as follows:

(1) For male candidates:

(a) Height: The minimum height should be 168 centimeters for male candidates from general/other backward classes and scheduled castes. For male candidates from scheduled tribes, the minimum height should be 160 centimeters.

(b) Chest: For candidates from general/other backward classes and scheduled castes, the minimum chest measurement should be 79 centimeters without expansion and at least 84 centimeters with expansion. For candidates from scheduled tribes, it should be 77 centimeters without expansion and at least 82 centimeters with expansion. Note: A minimum chest expansion of 5 centimeters is mandatory.

(2) For female candidates:

(a) Height: The minimum height should be 152 centimeters for female candidates from general/other backward classes and scheduled castes. For female candidates from scheduled tribes, the minimum height should be 147 centimeters.

(b) Weight: The minimum weight for female candidates should be 40 kilograms.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Candidates who are successful in the document review and physical standard examination will be expected to participate in a physical fitness test, which will be qualifying in nature. To qualify in this physical fitness test, male candidates will need to complete a 4.8 km run within a maximum of 25 minutes, and female candidates will need to complete a 2.4 km run within a maximum of 14 minutes. Candidates who do not complete the run within the stipulated time will not be eligible for recruitment. Final Merit List: After the completion of all the stages, a final merit list is prepared. This list is based on the performance of the candidates in the written examination and the Physical Efficiency Test. Candidates who are included in the final merit list will be offered the post of Constable in the Uttar Pradesh Police.

Medical Examination: Finally, the candidates selected will have to undergo a medical examination. Only those candidates who are found to be medically fit will be finally appointed as Constables in the Uttar Pradesh Police.

UP Police Constable Exam Pattern

The UP Police Constable Exam is an online computer-based test. The question paper is bilingual, i.e., it is available in both Hindi and English. The exam consists of 150 questions, each carrying 2 marks, making the total marks 300. The duration of the exam is 2 hours. There is a provision of negative marking, with 1/4 marks deducted for each wrong answer.

The distribution of questions and marks is as follows:

• General Knowledge: 38 Questions, 76 Marks
• General Hindi: 37 Questions, 74 Marks
• Numerical and Mental Ability: 38 Questions, 76 Marks
• Mental Aptitude/IQ/Reasoning: 37 Questions, 74 Marks
